Setting Our Eyes On God (part 2)

Hello guys. I know, I know it took me a while to post the second part but there was a lot of stuff happening, a wedding, church projects, work, etc. Anyways here it it’s the second part.

OK so as a quick summary we have talked about fears come when we focus more on ourselves than on God. This led us to see what God used to change Job’s focus and set it on Him. We also saw that God KNOWS BETTER than us, His plans are perfect and that our small limited human mind is not worthy to even talk back to God and be mad at him for what He sends to our lives.

Now we are going to see why we are more attracted to the stuff that brings us pleasure than to God. This as a result will make us have our focus on things on this earth instead than on God.

Compare Eve to Yourself

We know that Eve had everything any woman could want. She didn’t have to be fighting against other ladies for the attention of the most perfect man in history. All the gold and precious stones in all the world belonged to her, she had the most perfect body ever, she could eat all kinds of amazing fruit that you and I probably have no idea it existed, she could also talk to God as probably no one or just a few very consecrated people could talk to God. She had all these things and more except ONLY ONE!

  

Why do you think that Eve was so attracted to the forbidden fruit? 

Let’s see what James says about what happened to Eve:

“Each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death” (James 1:14-15).  

What happened to Eve?

She was DRAWN AWAY BY HER OWN EVIL DESIRES, this caused her to be ungrateful, therefore, she didn't choose to put her eyes on what the Lord had told her, she didn't even put attention to what the Lord said, she was not happy with everything she had, we know all these because the Bible tells us that she even wanted to be like God, that was the only thing she didn’t have. Adam and Eve were so blessed that the only thing they didn’t have was to be like God. She wanted this so bad that she decided to believe she wasn't going to die, even after God had said that they will SURELY Die! 

(this is the same longing that drive Satan out of heaven "to be like the most high" thisbis exactly what Adam and Eve wanted by taking the fruit, the Devil told them "you will be like God!" then they thought they didn't need God and the rest Is history!) 

We very often convince ourselves that we know better than God and that the consequences of our actions are not going to happen, we think that we are outside the rules since we know better than God. Most of the time right after we have done something wrong we don’t see the consequences happen right away so we think we got away with it.

Keep this in mind, someone said, “Sin would not be so attractive if the wages were paid immediately after committing it.”

REMEMBER: Temptations, problems and other many bad things come to our lives when our eyes are on us and not on God! 

Job's reward was even greater than what he used to have, and it came when His eyes were set on how to honor God with his life, not on how he could keep all his goods.

So, this is God's answer to all your questions:

Son-Daughter, all those questions that you have are main focused on you and YOU alone, no wonder what you are struggling with the things you are struggling and not even believing the promises that I have for you, the perfect life I designed for you!.

Now, like Job, I want you to understand that if I'm not the most important thing in your life, you will suffer much, because I have the keys and the power to overcome all those struggles that might seem big for you, just as the heavens and the seas are nothing to me, then your problems seem not even close to dust to me, just come closer to me and see your "big problems" through my perspective and you will see that they are smaller than dust. I will also keep your mind in PERFECT PEACE if you keep your eyes on me. Trust me forever, for in me you will find the everlasting strength! (Isaiah: 3-4).

  

Just learn my ways to be a victor! Keep my commands in front of your eyes and on your lips always, do not turn your sight to the right or to the left, meditate on them day and night, then you will be prosperous and successful. No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life, as I was with Moses, David, Jesus etc. so I will be with you, JUST BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS TO LEARN ALL MY COMMANDS (Joshua 1).

Seek those things which are above, where I am, Set your mind and eyes on things above, not on things on the earth! For you died, and your life is hidden with Me in my presence. When I that am your life appear, then you also will appear with me in glory. (Colossians 3:1-4)

The Lord is more than willing to give us the victory that He already won for us (even though we don't deserve it) from now on it should no longer be “me” but Him! We are not going to be able to know where do I come from? or where am I going? or what is the meaning of my life? or why do I want to fight against my natural design? Why I want to find myself in others? Why can't I get married? 

If we want the question to be answered, we need to ask the right questions!

Where is the meaning of life? We are not going to know the meaning of life until we have a relationship with our Creator and constant communication with Him.

• What is the purpose of us mere human beings? Instead we could ask,  What is the purpose that God has for me?

• Why do we try to find ourselves in others? Why are we fighting for a meaning? Why do we feel the need to matter?  We ALL have basic needs that can only be met by God, many times instead of doing so we try to fill those wholes with other people or things. Let get to know God better and find ourselves in Him! 

• Is it possible for us to fight the very cells of our bodies, to go against the very destiny that's been set for us? God created us and wrote his law in our hearts  That's why when we focus on what we want we tend do feel we are fighting our very cells.,and we make excuses for what we want, because deep inside we know we are wrong!

• Who are we? instead, we could ask, God what am I? and the answer is that by ourselves, we are just like dust or a drop on a bucket, less than nothing. But with Him we are more than conquerors, we are worth HIS BLOOD we are children of the Creator of the universe!!! 

• And why are we? instead, we could ask.  Lord why is the reason you brought me here? How can I glorify your name on this earth? After asking that question, you have to go to His Word and look in it with all your heart.   

We were made by Him, and our self needs Him and there are so many holes in our life that have God's shape. How are we going to now His shape if we don't know him? Let’s focus on knowing him better so that we don't try to fill those holes with: a husband/wife, bad role models, sensual relationships, pornography, bad music, wrong friends, or drugs, etc. 

He's the one that can actually bring REAL fulfillment to our lives. 

Let us humble ourselves and say like Job: "Lord all this time I've heard by the hearing of my ear what you were able to do, but now my Eyes SEE YOU!  

If my own people will humbly pray and turn back their eyes to me and stop sinning, then I will answer them from heaven. I will forgive them and make their land fertile once again.
